If there was ever a facial designed for January purging, then Natura Bisse’s The Cure is it. And so it was that I made my way to Hotel Missoni’s spa in Edinburgh to tackle what could only be described as a complexion hangover.
Now, let’s deal with the icky bit first up: the Aroma Cure Facial (to give its full name) involves extraction. Sadly this is not a common part of treatment lists in the city, but there are many a beauty editor who swear that without extraction, a facial is not worth having.
Despite your skin being thoroughly plumped and pores opened with exfoliating products at the beginning of this facial, it is – admittedly – mildly painful in an eye-watering kind of way, but when you see the results, you’ll be pleased you put yourself through it. Plus, overall is still a deeply relaxing treatment. After all, not only is there a heated bed, but when products are left on your skin to do their thang, you get soothing a hand, arm and shoulder massage (which to my mind makes this a good value 2-in-1 treatment).
As regular readers of the blog might know, I am a bit of a fan of Natura Bisse – the Spanish brand that has become quite the celeb favourite – but I’d never tried The Cure. Using products from The Cure range, everything about this treatment has been designed to deeply cleanse and detoxify.
This has lots of lovely elements all their facials do, like lymphatic drainage (again, good for the detoxing) which my therapist Rebecca conducted with perfect-pressure aplomb, and the application of an energising mask which you can actually feel working thanks to its feel-good fizz.
The result? My skin was left feeling clean to the core and it had that glow that I swear only a Natura Bisse facial can deliver.
The Aroma Cure Facial costs £75 (75mins)
